Lenskart set to disrupt the contact lens market.

NEW DELHI: Lenskart has earmarked $10 million (about Rs 71 crore) towards building its contact lens business, with the TPG-backed, omni-channel eyewear solutions company bringing on board a senior executive from Bausch and Lomb to head the vertical.

The company has named Indranil Chakravarty as the chief business officer of its AquaLens contact lens business, according to CEO Peyush Bansal. Chakravarty, who was Bausch and Lomb’s commercial director and business unit head for almost six years, formally joined Lenskart in January. “We want to disrupt contact lenses and repeat what we have done in the eye glasses sector, where we have emerged as the largest player in the organised market in the country,” Bansal told ET.
