Shenaz Bapooji

Shenaz has a total of 24+ years of Marketing and Advertising experience, and is currently CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) for the Shopmatic Group.

At Shopmatic, Shenaz runs the Marketing & brand building efforts globally, and is in charge of driving not just the vocabulary of the brand but partnering with the C-suite to drive the brand to profitability.
Shopmatic is the only ecommerce-enabling company to witness prolific growth in taking entrepreneurs and businesses online in the shortest span of time, and Shenaz’s efforts towards category creation, are helping the brand create new milestones in the space.
Needless to say, the fast-paced journey of the startup not just provides immense excitement to Shenaz,
but is tremendously fulfilling for her, as she paves the way for ‘non-branded’ entrepreneurs to find their identities online.

Prior to Shopmatic, Shenaz completed 20 years with Ogilvy and had the opportunity to shape the destiny of many brands across different categories, markets.

During her tenure in the agency, she had the opportunity to work on many- a- challenging assignment.
She became Managing Partner at Ogilvy Calcutta after 7 years of joining the agency as an Account Executive,
and moved to OgilvyBangalore, in 2003.
In 2004, Shenaz successfully launched the Business-to-Business Communications Practice Group of Ogilvy India,
which operated out of 6 cities in the country.
This was a 360 degree role, requiring her to network with all disciplines to offer the right communication solution to b2b clients.
She then, took on the role of looking after communication solutions for International Businesses and was instrumental in setting up Worldwide Campaign Management for Ogilvy-Lenovo Hub.
The Hub was set up to handle communication solutions for the brand across 52 countries, out of Bangalore.

Shenaz then, took charge of overseeing Non-Advertising disciplines in Ogilvy Bangalore – Ogilvy Public Relations,
OgilvyOne- Direct Marketing and Interactive Communications and Ogilvy Action.
In April 2010, Meridian was the next challenge that was given to Shenaz. She was seconded to Meridian ( which became Soho Square) with the clear charter to turn around Ogilvy’s second agency.
During her tenure, the agency delivered better profilts than it had ever done earlier and carved its own niche in the market.
She was given additional charge of Ogilvy Chennai, in her last year with the agency.

Shenaz’s strengths have been to drive strategies that help consolidate and grow businesses, build successful brands,
convert meaningful new businesses, raise the bar on thinking and creativity, groom talent,and be single-minded about surpassing business goals & driving profitability.
She has had the privilege to shape the destinies of a wide spectrum of local, national, international brands from categories like Consumer Products, Food and Cement to Education, IT & Technology and e-commerce Some of her best brand building experiences have come from Himalaya (Neem Face Wash, Toothpastes, Shampoos, Face Packs, other Face Washes in India and APac), ITC (Corporate, Infotech,- Matchboxes), IIMB, Infosys, SAP, SAAB-Gripen, Biskfarm biscuits, TataSteel, Lafarge Cement, Tata Steel, Sasken, Cable & Wireless, Lenovo, Intel, Deepam Sarees, C.Krishnaiah.Chetty Jewllers. Karbonn Mobiles, GKB Opticals.

While wearing her various business hats in Ogilvy, Shenaz also served as Head of Training for Calcutta and Bangalore offices for 10 years. She continued to stoke her passion for training by teaching Advertising in Mount Carmel College, Bangalore for several years, and giving guest lectures at lead Management schools.

In addition to her work responsibilities, Shenaz is a Reiki Master and practices Reiki every day. She also loves reading, writing features, listening to music, travelling and doing all the normal things any fun-loving person would do.
