Ram Jalan (Hindi: राम जालान) is the Chief Marketing Officer at Omaxe Limited living in Delhi. Ram has over sixteen years of experience as an entrepreneur, marketer, researcher and internet evangelist. Ram has been a management student of India’s premier B-School, IIM Calcutta and a commerce student at St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta and a technology student in Computer Application at CMC Limited (now part
of Tata Consultancy Services). Recently, he did his Certification in Consumer Neuroscience & Neuromarketing from Copenhagen Business School and pursuing experiments in the field of Neuromarketing across
Real Estate, Retail and Wellness domains.
Even before starting his professional career Ram built and exited a boutique Computer training & solutions business for medical, legal and banking professionals. He started his professional career with branding and sales & marketing roles with Emami Limited, Reliance Telecom, IMImobile, UK where he did successful brand launches.
A self-trained Digital Marketer, he launched ecommerce, local search platforms on web & mobile in India
and Malaysia for Maxis Group, Malaysia where he on-boarded more than one lakh SMEs online with their
own online store and social media presence in partnership with Google & Facebook. During the same
time, he invested and launched a deal & couponing platform and coffee booking app in Australia which he
Ram is a recognized growth hacker and an incessant learner. Inspired by new challenges he looks for
opportunities to experiment and innovate. He successfully implemented two Digital Transformation
projects at Businessworld and Wave Group and now working on the third at Omaxe.
As CMO, Wave Group (Wave’s businesses include Real Estate, Cinemas, Malls, School, Health and
Wellness and CSR) he made the group Digital 1st by integrating all its businesses online using AdTech &
Martech, CRM and Biz-tech platforms. And each business, connected into one platform which provide a
single view of the customer. Ram’s initiative of integrating AR-VR tech into the sales and post-sales
process (offered virtual site visit experience) increased conversion of leads into sales. He launched online
property festivals with leading ecommerce platforms, Snapdeal, Fipkart and Amazon. More than sixty
percent of the company’s revenue were attributed to Digital Marketing activities.
Ram has won more than fifteen different industry – marketing, branding and technology awards for his
work in online marketing and technology space. He has been nominated as “Most Influential Digital
Marketing Professional in India” by Paul Writer, Times Now, CMO Asia and several others. In 2018, the St.
Xavier’s Alumni Association awarded him the “Distinguished Alumni Award”. Recently, Facebook did a
case-study on Ram and Wave for doing innovative social media marketing in Real Estate space
Being a thought leader, Ram works closely with the academia on ‘Building Curricula 4.0’ and making the
students ‘Market Ready’. Recently, Delhi School of Economics published his paper on “Purposeful
Marketing” in their annual marketing journal, Erudition. He is a speaker on different marketing and
industry forums on various topics related to marketing and technology domain.
